A new season of 9-1-1 is upon us, making it the easiest time to recap, and some are wondering — why did Buck and Taylor wreck up?
At the beginning of the Season 5 finale, Starting Over, the couple was nonetheless warding off each and every other with Buck (Oliver Stark) admitting to a colleague that “he knows they need to speak but he is still too indignant.” To that, he's told, “You can’t put it off ceaselessly or sooner or later you snap.”
But put it off he does — till the near finish of the episode.
As a reporter, Taylor (Megan West) is committed to uncovering the reality and operating with it. In this example, it was a truth published about Buck’s colleague Jonah.
With a God complicated firmly in position, Jonah relished within the adulation he gained from saving patients. Problem is — he purposely introduced them to the edge of loss of life with a view to savor the additional glory he would get for saving them at the final minute. But it didn’t all the time work, and a number of patients died.

Why did Buck and Taylor damage up? She selected to reveal the reality over their courting.
To keep away from getting stuck, Jonah kept transferring round, ultimately touchdown on the Los Angeles Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic — the place Taylor in the end uncovered his crimes. But as a substitute of maintaining Buck in the loop, Taylor selected to take the tale on-air.
When the couple in any case were given around to discussing it, Taylor defined to Buck that, “The tale was once going to come out regardless. If I hadn’t broken it, someone else would have” — to which he asked, “You couldn’t have referred to as me first?”
Taylor claimed she was once “just seeking to get the reality out there” and reminded Buck that he "knew who [she] was when [they] started dating.” He admitted that he thought he could learn to live with it, but Taylor said she didn’t want to be something he has to “learn to live with.”
However, when Taylor said she was willing to wipe the slate clean and try to make things different, Buck replied, "yeah — just not in combination."
Ugh. Knife to the heart. Metaphorically speaking of course.
Showrunners said Buck and Taylor's breakup was "all the time inevitable."
In an interview with Variety, co-showrunner Kristen Reidel said, “It was always inevitable that they would not survive.”
In the finale, Buck realized he wasn’t happy, and as Reidel told the outlet, “That [was] a turning point for Buck, to realize he doesn’t have to stay with someone just to stay with someone.”

— zara 🫶🏽 (@bvckleybegins) May 16, 2022Speaking with TV Insider, Reidel admitted that Buck just may need to stick single for a bit.
“He might need to perhaps pass on some dates and no longer instantly fall into a relationship with somebody,” she stated. “But a giant part of it is Buck simply must be fair about who he is and what he needs and no longer settle for less.”
