Richard Ramirez, born Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramirez, was the youngest of 5. Ramirez was born in El Paso, Tex. to Mexican immigrants Mercedes and Julian Ramirez, and was identified affectionately in the family as Richard or Ricky.
