Spoiler alert: This article comprises spoilers for The Blacklist Season 10, Episode 1.
Fans can rejoice because The Blacklist is in spite of everything again! Its Season 10 premiere aired Feb. 26, 2023, and for better or for worse, we’re going to learn how Red’s (James Spader) tale ends. Yes, this season premiere is bittersweet as a result of Season 10 is the final season of The Blacklist. Even still, there are new characters, each allies and enemies, that we will be able to get eager about.
One of the latest characters, Siya Malik (Anya Banerjee) makes her first appearance in the Season 10 premiere, titled “The Night Owl.” At first, we are not sure if we will be able to consider Siya, but by the end of the episode, we’re in a position to convey her into the fold of the Task Force. Part of this is as a result of Siya is if truth be told the daughter of the past due Meera Malik, who used to be in The Blacklist’s first season. But what took place to Meera?
What came about to Meera Malik in ‘The Blacklist’? She used to be in Season 1.
We first met Meera Malik (Parminder Nagra) again in the premiere season’s 2nd episode, titled “The Freelancer.” In truth, this all ties back into the Season 10 premiere, giving The Blacklist a perfect full-circle ultimate season. Back at the starting, Diane Fowler chooses Meera to control Red’s document, and Red can immediately verify that Meera works for the CIA.
It’s very cool to peer Meera Malik’s presence (together with her daughter) back in the display. #TheBlacklist
— David Boren (@DavidABoren28) February 27, 2023Throughout Season 1, Meera and Red paintings together to try to take down Wujing and the Freelancer. But at the end of the season, in “Berlin: Conclusion,” Meera’s throat gets slit through an murderer working for Milos Kirchoff. Red had tried to warn Meera and Donald Ressler that the complete secret process power was being targeted, however he and Liz Keen couldn’t succeed in them.
Meera Malik’s daughter, Siya Malik, is becoming a member of the Task Force in a full-circle second.
It isn't often that a daughter gets to practice in her mom’s double agent secret service footsteps, however that seems to be the case for Siya. In the Season 10 premiere, a case involving the Season 1 Blacklister Wujing and his associate, Moores, leads the process force to Siya, who works with Richard Dever, the Head of Security at Luxe International.
The staff learns that Richard is actually a CIA agent and Siya is M16, and they have a former Blacklister in their ownership, who’s referred to as The Freelancer. Yes, this is the same assassin from Season 1. Unfortunately, Richard seems to be a double agent working for Wujing, so in an resulting gunfight, he shoots Siya right in her bulletproof vest. Siya proposes to Cooper that she sign up for the Task Force to complete what her mother began.
Now that Siya is becoming a member of the Task Force, it’s possible that Meera’s skeletons may just come again to haunt her come what may. While we could have never expected to revisit these kind of Season 1 characters, it seems that Season 10 is going to near up the full story once and for all.
New episodes of The Blacklist air each and every Sunday at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
