While Hulu has but to expose a release date for the documentary, we will be able to estimate that The Wildest Party Never Told will premiere on Hulu sometime in 2023, which marks the 40th anniversary of Freaknik and the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop.
Not long after news of the miniseries first surfaced on social media, controversy adopted. As the development grew in recognition, Freaknik was branded as a hedonistic hip-hop hoedown of the South. But in step with SoSo Def founder and document producer Jermaine Dupri, that wasn’t was once Freaknik was once all about.
Jermaine, who co-executive produced the mission at the side of Uncle Luke, cleared the air concerning the documentary in an interview with Tamron Hall.

“I wish to say this to all of the ones other folks out there. My vision of Freaknik is truly a story in regards to the South and Atlanta. It’s now not really a story about what everyone helps to keep talking about,” he instructed the host. “I don’t like that phase because I think adore it’s somewhat disrespectful because I’m just telling a story of Atlanta, right? And how Atlanta was built into the place that it is these days.”
He confident audience that The Wildest Party Never Told portrays the town of Atlanta because the “multi-cultural, multi-city” position that it is. “Freaknik performs one of the crucial largest roles in that duration,” he added.
That mentioned, this documentary isn’t precisely kid-friendly.
“I can’t say that you just gained’t see freaking in the film. It is known as Freaknik. It is what it is,” Jermaine teased.
